MORE than 300 breeders and thousands of alpaca enthusiasts will converge on Bendigo next year for the 2013 Australian Alpaca Association national show and sale next year.
The event will celebrate its 20th year with Australian Alpaca Association Victorian Eastern Region president, Steve Pate, saying Bendigo was the perfect place to hold the show.
“We are absolutely excited to announce that Bendigo is the destination for next year’s national show," he said.
"Bendigo has a proven record in hosting important national events such as this and we are looking forward to utilising the fantastic new shed facilities at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre.
“Bendigo is an ideal destination for our show because it has a great central location for our interstate and Victorian attendees and it’s a modern and contemporary city with excellent facilities."
Mr Plate said the show would be free to the public and feature displays of alpaca products, fleece judging, speciality meats and an auction.
City of Greater Bendigo major events unit manager Terry Karamaloudis said the four-day event would bring many economic benefits to the city.
“The event is rotated through various locations in Australia and we are absolutely delighted to be welcoming the alpaca community to Bendigo in 2013 and showcase our terrific city to them,” he said.
