A 66-YEAR-OLD woman has been airlifted to hospital after a tree branch fell onto her car near Newstead this morning.

The woman was driving along the Newstead-Daylesford road when the branch fell and crushed her front windscreen, before becoming embedded in her arm.
She suffered serious facial injuries but was able to steer her car to the side of the Newstead-Daylesford road.
The woman's 90-year-old mother was in the passenger seat and also received injuries.
She has been taken to the Ballarat Hospital in a stable condition.
The Newstead-Daylesford road was blocked in both directions for close to an hour as emergency services worked at the scene.
