BLTC Rising Sun sent a message it was a genuine title threat after the thrilling 7-5 win.
Shish again dominated the men’s singles, with Curt Garwood leading the way in an 8-1 victory against Terry Smith.
The Rising Sun women’s pair of Rebecca Tweed and Tova Penno responded as both won their singles against Mel McKenzie and Rashelle Blencowe, 8-2.
The doubles strength of the Rising Sun proved to be the difference, with Fraser McCarthy and Michael Smythe winning crucial sets.
Shish and Rising Sun remain unchanged on the ladder, first and third respectively, but the Rising Sun now has the momentum it hopes will continue for the rest of the season.
Spring Gully Bigpond defeated South Bendigo Metro, 7-5.
It was a total team effort from the Bigpond, which began with Jack Baker defeating Zac Lethlean 8-3, and Brad Slingo backing it up with an 8-4 win against Sam McHarg.
Isaac Watson and Michael Nihill were both impressive for the Metro, winning three and two sets respectively.
Bigpond now holds a 10-point lead over Metro, and moved within 11 points of fourth-placed Spring Gully Brougham Arms.
Spring Gully Butterflies took down Spring Gully Brougham Arms, 9-3.
The Butterflies did it with their domination in the doubles, winning all six sets.

The Brougham Arms fared better in the singles, with Brown defeating Baker 9-7, and Hartland defeating Bowles, 8-1.
The big win moved the Butterflies to within nine points of the ladder-leading Shish, while the Broughie will be looking for greater output from the lower order to again be a major challenger for the premiership.
Section two played at the Bendigo Lawn Tennis Club in Barnard Street.
The top four teams were victorious.
Fourth-placed Spring Gully Stingers now hold a nine-point advantage over-fifth placed Spring Gully Phoenix.
