Police allege two men, one armed with a firearm, broke into a house on Wednesday morning and hit a male occupant over the head with the gun.
A police spokeswoman said the incident happened just after 11am.
“The male occupant of the house was threatened by the men and hit over the head with the firearm. The male victim received minor injuries in the incident,” she said.
The spokeswoman said the man had refused an ambulance and believed he was physically OK.
“The two men left the home and fled in a black Mitsubishi twin-cab utility and a white XF Ford utility.”
Echuca police attended the callout on Wednesday, but the investigation has been taken over by the Melbourne-based armed officers squad.
Police have not yet released a description of the men they’re looking for.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
