The new Spirit page will be featured on the Bendigo Advertiser website and include weekly game reviews and previews, video interviews, player profiles, feature stories, photo galleries and a fan message board.
Spirit players Maddie Garrick, Kelsey Griffin, Chelsea Aubry and Renae Camino yesterday had a sneak peek at the new webpage ahead of tomorrow night’s top-of-the-ladder blockbuster against Dandenong at the Bendigo Stadium.
“The positive exposure since the season started has been fantastic for the club,” Spirit chairman Jeremi Moule said yesterday.
“It fills the playing group with confidence and it can’t be under-estimated in helping to contribute to the way the girls have been playing.
“It obviously helps when you’re winning, but the crowds have been really strong throughout the season and we’ve been getting great support from the community.
“We’re looking forward to the new Spirit page on the Addy website helping to keep all our supporters up-to-date and informed on what is happening at the club.”
Tomorrow night’s clash at the Bendigo Stadium is one of the most keenly-anticipated of the WNBL season. The Spirit (10-1) are flying at the top of the ladder, while the Rangers (10-2) are second.
Both the Rangers’ losses this season have been to the Spirit – by 12 points on October 13 and two points on October 27.
A win tomorrow night would be a massive step towards the Spirit ending the regular season in first place, with Bendigo and Dandenong likely to be the two teams at the end of the season jostling for top spot.
“The most important thing for us at this stage is working towards securing a home final,” Moule said.
“The best-case scenario is if you finish on top of the ladder you give yourself a home grand final, which would be unbelievable for not only the club, but Bendigo.”
In 2013, the Bendigo Advertiser will have a web page dedicated to the Bendigo Braves teams.
