Racing Victoria yesterday confirmed the Kyneton and Hanging Rock Racing Club will host the New Year’s Day meeting after the successful running of official trials.
RV stewards and the Victorian Jockeys’ Association gave the racing surface their tick of approval after 53 horses competed in nine trials.
Hanging Rock racecourse underwent remedial track drainage works after a hole was discovered in the racing surface after race one on January 1, 2012.
Subsequent track investigations uncovered issues with the track’s drainage system.
Cox Plate-winning jockey Steven Arnold was among riders who competed in yesterday’s trials and expressed satisfaction with the surface and track safety.
Racing Victoria chief executive officer Bernard Saundry, said the completion of track upgrades were significant milestones for the club and its iconic meeting.
