This year marks the school’s 21st anniversary and to commemorate the milestone, the dancers staged a Hollywood-themed concert for their families and friends.
Founder Sharon Saunders said a lot of preparation had gone into putting on the November 24 performance.
“We had an awesome time and it was very entertaining,” she said. “Everyone likes a fast-moving show and we all enjoyed it.”
Mrs Saunders said she had always loved to dance and on moving to Bendigo in 1988 she found a gap in the area for aspiring dancers to go and learn.
The solution was simple.
“I had my first child and was missing dancing, so I decided to open up a dance studio,” she said.
“It was a bit of fun. I didn’t think it would last this long.
“I have girls that have danced with me for more than 15 years – it is like a family.”
Mrs Saunders said she first opened in Marong, using the space in the town hall, before expanding to Kangaroo Flat in 1999.
Mrs Saunders said her school offered a range of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary.
She said the school now had more than 120 dancers.
