AN ELDERLY Bendigo resident has called for community help to solve the mystery of a small ceramic arrow head-shaped object found during earthworks in the Sailors Gully area this week.
The resident said the object was found in rocks and sand about half a metre below the surface during trenching works for a retaining wall.
He said the object was about 45 millimetres from top to bottom.
“The little jigger in the middle – the swirl – that might mean something,” the resident said.
“It’s only a guess but it may possibly be a tile from an old Chinese mahjong game. There were a lot of Chinese around this area in the mining day.”
