The Foodshare centre in Long Gully became a festive forest full of trees donated to Bendigo Uniting Care by retailer Target.
The trees will be distributed through a number of charity groups across the region.
Foodshare volunteer Mick Crowley spent all day yesterday giving out trees, after a truck-full was collected from an Altona warehouse.
He said Bendigo charities – including St Vincent de Paul, the Salvation Army, Bendigo Family Financial Services and Our Place at Eaglehawk – were rapt to receive the Christmas gifts.
“We got asked if we could distribute them to different agencies, and said we’d love to. When we got out there they couldn’t believe it,” he said.
“It’s all for charity, it’s a great thing for those agencies and the homes they’ll go to.”
Bendigo Family Financial Services treasurer Tracie Driscoll said the 10 trees they received would be given to families in need.
“We’ll probably be donating a hamper pack with the trees,” she said.
“It’s a busy time, especially at this time of year. But it can make their lives a bit easier.”
The donated Christmas trees are ex-display trees from Target that are being distributed by Bendigo Uniting Care.
