The 16-year-old has been an aspiring pilot for most of his life and has been working hard to get qualified.
“I have always wanted to fly,” he said. “I get a sense of satisfaction and pride when I fly.” Mark began training to fly with the Bendigo Flying Club at the beginning of this year and is making fast progress.
The year 10 student completed his RA-A Pilot Certificate and his Passenger Endorsement certificate and is halfway through the final module before he can become a pilot. Mark said he was proud of his achievement.
“There’s not a lot of young people that get their licence.”
Mark said in the future he would like to get a commercial pilot’s licence and go on to become an agricultural pilot.
“The plan is to go to Leongatha and do a course in agriculture and then become a pilot, doing crop dusting and water bombing,” he said.
Girton Grammar, Catholic College Bendigo and Crusoe College also offer flying training at the Bendigo Flying Club. ??
