Valentine Brown, 30, faced the Bendigo Magistrates Court yesterday on a long list of charges including aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, weapons offences, assault, driving offences and firearms offences.
Police allege Brown falsely imprisoned a man and a woman for two hours during a domestic dispute in Kingower, west of Inglewood, on Saturday.
Detective Senior Constable Steve Atkinson said Brown had been armed with a tomahawk and a sawn-off shotgun. He said no one was injured in the incident and police had recovered all weapons involved.
Brown was arrested by police at midday on Sunday, charged and remanded in custody.
He appeared in court yesterday via video link from the Bendigo police station.
Brown’s lawyer Bob Cameron said his client had been on bail on charges of contravening a family violence order at the time of the recent allegations.
He asked for all of Brown’s charges to be brought together at a mention date in the same court on January 22.
Magistrate William Gibb remanded Brown in custody until that date.
Brown made no application for bail.
