TALENTED cyclist Isaac Buckell last night joined a prestigious club as the 2012 winner of the Bendigo Sportsmen’s Association’s Junior Sports Star of the Year award.

Finalists in the long-running award, which is sponsored by Coca-Cola, were water polo ace Lily Pridham, swimming sensation Isabella Symons, and soccer star Tayla Vlaeminck.
The quarterly winners were among the special guests at the BSA’s Christmas Dinner at the Kangaroo Flat Sports Club.
Special guest speakers were renowned sports commentator Tony Charlton and Brownlow medallist and St Kilda champion Neil Roberts.
An outstanding year for Buckell included a great run in the opening round of the national junior track series in Sydney.
Racing in the under-15 division, Buckell won the match sprint final, the 15-lap points race, and elimination.
The 13-year-old ws runner-up in the scratch race, 4000m points race and 500m sprint.
The three other finalists competed at national championships.
