Rebecca Raine, 32, faced Bendigo Magistrates Court on Monday charged with aggravated burglary, intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, criminal damage and unlawful assault.
She appeared via video link from the Bendigo police station and made no application for bail.
Police allege Raine went to a unit in Gingell Street, Castlemaine, about 4am on Sunday. Acting Sergeant Jan Stroek said a man opened the door and Raine hit him in the head with a knife. He said the man ran to the back of the house and was chased by Raine.
“The victim tried to grab the knife and received cuts to his hands.”
It is alleged Raine then kicked in a door. She was later found by police in a neighbouring unit.
Duty solicitor Luke Docherty said Raine needed to see a doctor as she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Magistrate Jennifer Tregent remanded Raine until December 3, when she is expected to apply for bail. ?
