The front facade of the historic building, which was constructed in 1872, has undergone repairs to the render and windows and has been repainted.
City of Greater Bendigo place manager Phil DeAraugo said the upgrades would ensure the future of the building.
“It looks fantastic,” he said.
“It’s one of the most spectacular buildings along Pall Mall, which is one of the most impressive boulevards in Australia.
“Being an 1872 building, it contributes quite a bit to the area.”
Mr DeAraugo said the council was working with adjacent land owners to decide the future of the council-owned former mining exchange.
“We’re looking at ways that might be incorporated into the adjoining building,” he said. “But our first priority is making sure the building’s secure and watertight.
“Ultimately we’re looking to restore the former mining exchange.”
Mr DeAraugo said the majority of the work had been finished a few months ago and work on power cables had caused a slight delay in completing the project.
