The fire started shortly after 2pm and is still burning in Willies Road between Bridgewater and Newbridge.
Cfa crews are at the scene, with nine trucks working to control the blaze.
The 56-year-old man is believed to have suffered burns to 15 per cent of his body, including his face and hands.
He is expected to be flown to the Alfred Hospital.
