Needless destruction is the gripe with DSE burns

Further to my letter printed in Tuesday’s Addy, could I please advise your readers that I, and most of my “nature-loving” friends are not totally opposed to fuel reduction burns by the DSE. Some burns are definitely required.

It is the needless destruction of vast tracts of our endangered forests just to meet quotas that is the gripe.

NB: A farmer puts a fire-break around his property. He doesn’t destroy his pastures.
