Grinton has taken on the role at Mitiamo, having spent the past two years coaching Mount Pleasant in the Heathcote District Football League.
Grinton takes over as coach from Wayne Eve, who stood down following two years at the helm of the Superoos.
The Superoos are coming off a poor 2012 in which they won just three games and missed the finals for the first time since 2006. However, the club had a horror run of injuries, in which it was forced to use 47 different players through the seniors.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge, but I’m certainly under no illusions as to where the group is at,” Grinton said yesterday.
“They had a lot of injuries last year, which hurt them, so hopefully, we can retain all the players that are there and we can give them a challenge to improve, which is what we want to do.
“Even though we’re starting late, hopefully, we can recruit four or five blokes to bring in.”
While the Superoos seniors struggled, the reserves won the premiership after beating Newbridge in the grand final.
Mitiamo is one of five clubs, along with Calivil United, Inglewood, Pyramid Hill and YCW, that will have new coaches in 2013.
Grinton will meet with the Superoos players at the National Hotel in Golden Square from 6.30pm on Monday, November 26.
Meanwhile, at Bridgewater, Zac East will be the sole coach of the Mean Machine.
East and Brad Wickham co-coached Bridgewater to its third-straight premiership this year.
However, Wickham has stood down from coaching duties, but will retain a key involvement with the club as its football operations manager.
