Street mayhem a product of no-smack parenting

Street mayhem a product of no-smack parenting

31 Aug, 2010 10:58 PM
WHO is surprised at the “Street mayhem” article in the Bendigo Advertiser on August 30?

Two hundred drunken youths at a party!

My God, how could they afford the stuff. Wasn’t anyone around to oversee discipline?

Probably they are beyond discipline, having been raised on the no-smack type of discipline that has had parents afraid to administer any sort of discipline.

The goody-goody reward system for better behaviour does not work.

The concept of a link between crime or misdemeanour and punishment needs to be restored.

RON FISCHER,

Sebastopol

Same goes for schools and law enforcement. Can't touch the kids, can't raise your voice to them or do anything that might raise the slightest hint of fear. Fear of stepping over the line, that is. Without that, what do they care?
