It has been a big year for St Luke’s Bendigo in terms of local business and community groups approaching our agency and undertaking major fund-raising activities on our behalf.
The first of these offers was in late 2009 and culminated in the inaugural Bendigo Executive and Director Sleepout (BEDS).
This event raised more than $60,000 for our youth homelessness programs and, just as importantly, played a significant role in raising the profile of St Luke’s and the work we undertake in the community.
And of course, the opportunity to connect our vulnerable young people with the business sector via work experience opportunities and mentor relationships is invaluable.
Now, less than two months later, more than 230 people paid $50 for the privilege of bidding for tens of thousands of dollars worth of goods (all donated) at the St Luke’s Ride for Youth Charity Auction, which saw more than $80,000 raised on the night for St Luke’s.
I am extremely humbled by the generosity of the Bendigo community and on behalf of St Luke’s board, staff and clients, thank you all for your support.
To the local riders participating in the 772 kilometre Bendigo to Bathurst event, best wishes for a safe journey and thank you for your commitment to St Luke’s.
I encourage people to follow their training and fund-raising progress by logging on to www.rideforyouth.org.au
