HOW audacious and irresponsible of Craig Emerson to suggest we all buy “no-name” products on supermarket shelves.
Audacious, because he seems to suggest that if you are poor then the quality doesn’t matter; irresponsible, because he should, as Consumer Affairs Minister, be forcing the big chain supermarkets - who set the prices anyway - to even out the difference in the price between brand names and generics.
Are we going to allow those such as Coles and Woolworths to dictate what products we consume by pricing brand names out of our reach?
It’s time the minister stood up for the Australian consumer, not advocate for the big two.
