Hard work paying off for Phoenix FM

12 Jan, 2008 03:00 AM
MY life and the life of all Bendigonians has been enriched this week. Aspirant community radio station Phoenix FM has started a two week test broadcast on the 89.5 frequency allocated to Bendigo Community Radio.

I have been privileged to have a small part of this as an on-air producer/presenter and in 27 years of community radio involvement around Australia I have not struck more passion, tenacity and determination.

A core group of about a dozen locals has ensured Phoenix FM’s test broadcast with their hard work and belief for something meaningful and desperately needed in Bendigo.

A station such as this is badly needed, as indicated by the number of volunteers that have jumped aboard.

I strongly encourage all Bendigonians to check it out.

CHRIS FOLEY, Strathdale
