Fortuna an important part of our history

Fortuna an important part of our history

27 Jul, 2009 08:24 AM
CONGRATULATIONS and thanks to Bev Carter for the wonderful and fascinating history of the Lansell family, and the buildings over many years of the Fortuna Villa.

The Lansell family and Fortuna have been part of the history of Bendigo from the early days of mining in the Bendigo area.

So I do hope Bendigo is able to procure Fortuna as a tourist attraction, and as a wonderful example of what one enterprising man with vision was able to achieve in his lifetime.

JOAN PHILLIPS,

Strathdale

As a result of these articles there must be a lot of people in Bendigo who now share Beverley Carter's fervent hope that Fortuna will be preserved in public ownership. The idea of a combination of cultural, community and appropriate commerical activities should be pursued and Fortuna turned into an outstanding national attraction.
