Typical Mount Alexander Shire council. The CWA women and other voluntary clubs along with sports clubs should be getting a lot more encouragement and help from the shire council.
Mt Alexander Shire council went to VCAT against the Maryborough Highland Society wanting to bring an entertainment venue to Castlemaine on a 400-person survey out of approximately 12,000 people who live in the shire.
But when well over 1000 people met on the Western Reserve against an aquatic centre being built there, the council did not listen and went ahead with plans and meetings costing thousands of dollars, and is still insisting on wanting the aquatic centre built on the Western Reserve.
I thought people who were voted into council were supposed to work and listen to the ratepayers, but this council is not listening.
If Maryborough Highland Society wins at VCAT I’m sure it would accommodate the hardworking CWA women.
If the council can’t subsidise a miserable $2777, how’s it going to subsidise an aquatic centre in a place where people don’t want it?
