Christmas tree cash better spent elsewhere

Christmas tree cash better spent elsewhere

IN reference to the money to be spent on a Christmas tree for our city, a cost of $60,000.

That seems an awful lot of money for a Christmas tree.

Why can’t a portion or the money, or at least half, be donated to a worthwhile cause, such as the Royal Children’s Hospital, or donated to the Cancer Foundation to save lives, rather than being spent on a Christmas tree? Surely there must be an easier and cheaper option for Bendigo’s decorations at Christmas.
