Chance to appreciate city's 'golden heart'

04 Dec, 2008 08:00 AM
IT was great to learn from The Advertiser that the Defence Department has organised an open day at Fortuna Villa, next Saturday.

Despite the limitations of time, and accessibility, we are sure that hundreds and probably thousands of Bendigo residents will seize this opportunity to see this important site, enjoy the villa and surroundings with its magnificent history, and perhaps envision its great future potential as a community asset. Let’s hope this will not be the last chance Bendigo people have to appreciate this vital “golden heart” of our heritage.

MERLE HALL,

president, Villa Fortuna Action Group
