Missing boy's body found at ski resort in Snowy Mountains

07 Sep, 2010 03:37 PM
The body of a teenager - believed to be that of Evan Greenwood, 15 - has been found by bushwalkers near a NSW ski resort.

Evan, from Canterbury in Sydney's west, went missing yesterday morning while on holiday with his family at Charlotte Pass in the Snowy Mountains.

When he failed to return from skiing by lunchtime, his family alerted ski-field staff. The search resumed today after being called off last night.

Police said a body had today been found two kilometres from Charlotte Pass resort, behind the Mount Guthrie ski run area at 11.30am.

The teenager's family have been told of the find.

A police spokeswoman said Evan, who had mild autism, was considered adequately skilled to handle the resort's ski runs alone.

"He had three years' experience and was considered an intermediate," she said.

She said Evan was in good spirits when he left his accommodation at the resort yesterday morning.

Temperatures dropped below freezing last night.
