A SQUAD of 21 youngsters from the Bendigo Tennis Academy will be on court at the Gold Coast-based Pat Cash International Tennis Academy next week.
The four-day camp will involve plenty of volleys, smashes and lobs.
It’s the third time the BTA has headed to the Gold Coast.
“Its a really important week in player development,’’ BTA head coach Stephen Storer said yesterday.
“This camp is an opportunity to fast-track knowledge of the game in areas such as fitness, technique and tactics.”
The Pat Cash Academy has drawn players from around the world.
“We are hoping that Pat Cash will be there next week,’’ Storer said of the possibility of gaining tips from the 1987 Wimbledon champion.
Cash was an Australian Open finalist in 1987 and ’88.
“Next week’s workouts with Chris Steel, high performance coach for Tennis Australia and Academy director will also focus on the work ethic to keep improving.”
The BTA squad off to the Gold Coast: Mikaela Adamson, Jayden Baber, Ryan Brook, Sean Grabasch, Patrick Goldsmith, Jacob Halstead, Lani Hamilton, Isaac Harvey, Ashlea Jenkyn, Jacoby Khoo, Zac Lethlean, Brett McNamara, Tom Metherell, Nick Pay, Bronte Pollard, Hannah Pollard, Sam Simpson, Sam Storer, Zach Storer, Andrew Van Hueman and Isaac Watson.
