The win earned Lawn the minor premiership in the SportsPower-backed competition. Lawn finished eight points clear of Spring Gully Brougham Arms.

20 Feb 10 | THE Bendigo Tennis Association’s Premier League teams will play on the Barnard Street lawn courts for the final time in the 2009-10 season in today’s 18th round. Match of the round will be the third-placed Epsom Butterflies against fourth-placed Spring Gully Bigpond. The teams will meet again in an elimination final on March 13, so both will be keen to gain an advantage.

23 Jan 10 | THE world’s number one junior tennis player, Daniel Berta dominated in yesterday’s qualifying rounds for the Australian Open junior championship on Bendigo’s courts. The reigning Wimbledon and French Open junior champion, Berta began the day’s play on the Bendigo Bank complex courts in Nolan Street with a 6-2 6-1 win against Japan’s Toma Kozakai. The Swedish ace then outpointed Australia’s Andrew Whittington, 6-4 6-2.
Burman upsets German junior
22 Jan 10 | CARISBROOK teenager Mitchell Burman was among the winners in the first round of Australian Open junior qualifying played at the Bendigo Bank Tennis Complex yesterday. Burman is hoping his quality performances will continue in order to secure one of the eight places in next week’s Australian Open Junior Championship held at Melbourne Park from Sunday.

21 Jan 10 | THE world’s number one ranked junior Daniel Berta will hit the court in Bendigo today in a bid to gain a place in the 2010 Australian Open Junior Championship. The 17-year-old tennis ace is part of an exclusive club, with his name sitting amongst the likes of Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Marcos Baghdatis, Thomas Enquist and Pat Cash as the holder of the world junior number one ranking.

18 Jan 10 | SPRING Gully Bigpond and South Bendigo played out the first draw of the season in the Bendigo Tennis Association’s premier league match on Saturday afternoon. Frank Ryan and Simon Kelly scored an 8-6 victory in the last set of the day to lock the scores.
16 Jan 10 | BENDIGO Lawn will be aiming to take top spot on the premier ladder for the first time this season when it takes on Castlemaine in today’s Bendigo Tennis Association clash. The Lawn and Castlemaine will play on courts 13, 14, and 15 at the Bendigo Lawn Tennis Club in Barnard Street.
15 Jan 10 | WORLD number one junior tennis star Daniel Berta will be playing in Bendigo’s Australian Open Junior Qualifying tournament next week. The 17-year-old from Sweden will be playing for a place in the Australian Open junior championships to be held at Melbourne Park from January 25.

12 Jan 10 | BENDIGO will again be home to quality tennis action when the Australian Open Junior Championship Qualifying tournament hits town next week. The qualifying event, which is the precursor to the Australian Open Junior Championships, will be held at the Bendigo Bank tennis complex in Nolan Street from January 18 to 22.

The match was close all day, with Bigpond’s Eliza Long and Heather Robbins playing key roles in the 11th round win.

07 Dec 09 | FORMER world number-eight Alicia Molik has her sights on the Australian Open after winning the William Loud Bendigo Tennis International in stunning fashion yesterday. Molik defeated Frenchwoman Irena Pavlovic in straight sets, 6-3 6-4, and is on target to earn herself a wildcard into the 2010 Australian Open.
Ebden dominates final
07 Dec 09 | MATTHEW Ebden’s superb form continued yesterday when he took out the men’s final of the William Loud Bendigo International. The 19-year-old West Australian crushed James Lemke 6-1 6-1 to win his third Pro Tour tournament in four weeks. Ebden was faultless in the final. The sixth-seed hit winner after winner, with his forehand and backhand drives and crisp volleys a feature.
