The Yarraville-Footscray duo proved too strong for Central Victoria region titleholders, Colin Johnson and Greg Brown from Central Wendouree.
The Roberts-skipped team won 22-12.
In the semi-finals, Dove and Roberts beat Bundoora RSL’s Jack Woodhouse (sub) and Adrian Marchioli, 28-11.
Johnson and Brown advanced to the championship decider after a 17-10 win against Peninsula-Casey region champions, George Pavlovski and Alan Worthington from Hastings.
Among the many highs in yesterday’s play was the women’s state pairs duel.
Lalor’s Melanie Watt and Barbare Withers took on Bundoora RSL’s Pauline Skinner and Jody Nevill.
The Northern Gateway region champions scored a 20-15 win against the Yara region titleholders.
In the semi-finals, Watt and Withers beat Shepparton Park’s Shirley Sinclair and Glenice Mawson, 18-11.
Skinner and Nevill won through to the titles decider after a hard-fought 18-13 victory against Sandbelt region champions, Lanni Pham and Joyce Lindores from Clayton.
The men’s singles and women’s champion of champion singles winners will be decided today at the Victorian State Champions Week lawn bowls at Bendigo East.
Cohuna’s Terry Gilmore is still in the running for the men’s title after he won 25-14 against Abe Roeder from Traralgon in the quarter-finals and claimed a close 25-22 win against John Murnane from Dennington in their semi.
Gilmore will clash with Anthony Holland from Nathalia following Holland’s comfortable 25-10 against Rob Baker from Sebastopol in the quarter-finals.
Bendigo Bowls Club’s Ian Ross was defeated 25-6 by Strathmore’s David Ryan in the last 16 and Ryan will play Geelong West’s Nathan Bush in a semi-final today.
City of Echuca’s Veronica Kelly won her opening match in the women’s champion of champion last 16, but was knocked-out 25-7 at the quarter-final stage by Ann McCarthy from Caulfield Park.
McCarthy will play Joan Tennent from Lara in one semi-final this morning, while Australian player Carla Odgers will take on Roma Opie from Leitchville.
Odgers was pushed in her 25-18 victory against Edna Anderson from Warracknabeal Golf Club, while Opie won 25-19 against Karen Chenney from Orbost.
