BENDIGO youngster Kassidy-Rae Browell has earned a silver medal in the primary girls’ division at the Australian Figure Skating Championships.

Kassidy-Rae and her Victorian teammates were in fine form at Boondall in Queensland.

The warm-up for Browell included many hours training at the Bendigo Ice Skating Stadium in Golden Square, and also the Skate Bendigo tournament.

The talented skater returned to full training in mid-June when the Bendigo rink was reopened.

Another of the Ice Skating Club of Bendigo’s young guns, Andrew Taylor was sixth in the intermediate men’s division at the national titles.

The Melbourne-based skater travels to Bendigo for workouts.

Browell and Taylor are both coached by Svetlana and Mikhael Vahzenin at Ice Skating Club Bendigo.

Victorian teammate Adele Morrison, form Olympic Figure and Dance Club Oakleigh, was 16th in the intermediate women’s class at the national titles.

Earlier this year, top jockey Brad Rawiller donated the $1000 from his monthly win in The Advertiser Southern Cross TEN Sports Star of the Year award for 2007-08 to the Ice Skating Club Bendigo.

The monthly donations are made possible through RegionalOne Credit Union’s support of Sports Star.
