BENDIGO’S netball associations are going pink this Mother's Day weekend, with the Bendigo Football Netball Association, Golden City Netball Association and the Loddon Valley Football Netball League all getting in the spirit to support the Breast Cancer Network of Australia.
Nearly 300 netball clubs across Victoria will be chasing a pink ball to their respective goal posts to support Pink Footy and Netball Day 2010.
Netball and Football teams in the three Bendigo leagues, as well as the Bendigo Junior Football League, will be substituting their usual match ball for a pink ball to raise funds for breast cancer.
Bendigo Football Netball League’s Sunday match between Sandhurst and Castlemaine will be getting into the spirit, with Sandhurst netballers substituting their regular bibs for pink match bibs on the day.
Kyneton Football Netball Club will also be holding a special morning tea to raise money for Pink Football Netball Day.
The Golden City Netball Association will encourage all players and parents to wear pink to support the cause.
GCNA will raffle its pink netball in a special draw for a primary school to win and will hold a barbecue on the day.
Loddon Valley’s YCW, along with Bears Lagoon Serpentine Football Netball Club, will conduct a special raffle as well as a handball and netball goal-shooting competition to raise money for the event.
Winners of the competitions will receive the match balls from the senior football and netball match.
The clubs’ raffle on the day will include a $400 package from the Bendigo Portrait Place, one night’s accommodation at the Rochester Motel, one night’s accommodation for a family at the Cascade Motel Camperdown and a mystery hamper.
