Bendigo road racer Doug Hall has had back-to-back victories at the Victorian Road Race Championships, following a podium finish at last weekend’s final round in Broadford.
Hall took out second place in the final stage to take out the overall Thunderbike class championship by 23 points.
It is the second consecutive year that Hall has taken out the Thunderbike championship, with the road racer winning by more than 50 points in last year’s event.
Hall, who went into stage three of the competition 50 points ahead of his nearest rival, said he was confident he could take out the championship.
“I knew I could still win if I finished behind one person,” he said.
“I had enough points from the other rounds to hold on.
“It’s great to have won the state championship two years in a row.”
Hall also competed in the Super Stock 1000 class this season, and finished as runner-up in the overall championship, following a second place finish in the Broadford round.
Hall has self-funded his racing career by working three jobs, but said he was looking for sponsorship to pursue his racing ambitions.
Hall added that it cost him up to $15,000 a year to compete in the state championships and said he was in need of funding to compete on the summer racing circuit.
“There is a summer series at the end of the year that I’m hoping to compete in,” he said
“There are races at Eastern Creek, Lakefield Park and Winton,” he said.
“That’s what I’m aiming for but it comes down to whether I can fund it.
“If I get some sponsorship I’ll be able to compete in the summer series.”
Hall also aspires to compete in the Australian Championships and improve on his fifth place finish in 2007.
