BRIDGEWATER and Calivil United have both named unchanged line-ups for tomorrow’s Loddon Valley Football League grand final at Backhaus Oval.
The Mean Machine will stick with the same 21 players who defeated Pyramid Hill by 27 points in the second semi-final two weeks ago.
At Calivil United, there has been some doubt this week over the availability of experienced wingman Lloyd Maxted, who suffered a leg injury during last Saturday’s extra-time victory over Pyramid Hill in the preliminary final.
However, 31-year-old Maxted – who won the VCFL Medal for best on ground in the Demons’ 2006 and 2007 grand final victories – was named last night.
“Lloyd has passed a fitness test, but we will just have to make sure he pulls up alright,’’ Demons coach Ross Maxted said last night.
“The team had a good night on the track tonight, so we’re all set to go.’’
For Calivil United tomorrow will be its ninth-consecutive grand final, with the Demons’ remarkable run beginning in 2002 against YCW.
While the Demons have been regular grand finalists, that’s not the case for Bridgewater.
Bridgewater last played in a grand final in 1991 when it defeated Newbridge by 35 points.
The Mean Machine, coached by Troy Auld, enters the grand final as the favourites, having won 16 of 17 games this season.
Although, Bridgewater’s one loss was to the Demons in round 14.
