The Gold were outplayed for most of the game, but rallied in the last quarter and almost pulled off an unlikely victory.
Bendigo was down by 29 points at three quarter-time, but got as close as five midway through the last term.
However, the Zebras kicked two of the last three goals of the game to win 14.11 (95) to 12.12 (84) as Bendigo's QEO hoodoo continued.
Matt Little kicked six goals for the Gold and was the side's only multiple goalkicker.
Wingman Elliott Kavanagh and defender Tayte Pears were also among the standouts for the Gold, who are now 8-6.
