LOCKINGTON-Bamawm United celebrated a fourth-consecutive Heathcote District Football League under-17s premiership on Saturday.
The Cats comfortably defeated Huntly by 60 points, 11.14 (80) to 3.2 (20), as their remarkable dynasty continued.
The Matthew Jenkins-coached Cats broke the game open in the second term after they had led by just two points at quarter-time, 1.2 to 1.0.
However, in the second term the Cats piled on 6.1 to 0.1 to establish a 38-point lead at half-time.
It was a decisive break in the tough conditions at Colbinabbin’s M.J. Morgan Oval.
The Cats maintained control after the main break, adding 4.11 to 2.1 in the second half.
The comprehensive win capped a dominant season in which the Cats lost just one game, which had been to Huntly by nine points in round 15.

The VCFL Medal for best on ground went to the Cats’ Jeremy Mundie, who booted five goals.
Also among the best for the Cats – who since the start of 2007 have won 70 of 73 games – were captain Hayden Chappel, Terrence Reeves, Gavin Broad (three goals), Luke Bish and Marcus Angove.
The Hawks were well led by Jaydon Cowling, Brett Quin, captain Joshua Homewood, Jack Daley, Colby Mountjoy and Luke Nash.
Daniel Ryrie kicked two of Huntly’s three goals.
With their defeat, the Hawks’ last under-17 premiershp remains 2002, when they went through the season undefeated.
n Heathcote won its first reserves premiership since 1978 with a 6.9 (45) to 5.8 (38) victory over Lockington-Bamawm United, which had ended the season on top of the ladder.
The Saints gained the upper hand in the third quarter.
Having trailed by 11 points at half-time, the Saints kicked 4.6 to 0.0 in the third term to open up a commanding 19-point lead at three quarter-time, which the Cats were unable to reel in.
Steven Korp (two goals), Ben Carboon, Justin Hancock, Luke Ring, Luke Lomax and Anthony Ring were the standout players for the Saints, who were coached by Brenton Sheppard.
Before Saturday, the Saints’ last reserves premiership in 1978 had been won against Elmore when they prevailed 13.9 (87) to 6.9 (45).
Luke Crameri, who was awarded the best on ground medal, Jared Ireland, Jared Mundie, Jamie Maddison, Morgan medallist Robert Baldock and Brent Lipscombe were the best for the Cats, who were denied back-to-back flags.
