Bombers land for two-day camp

AFL club Essendon today begins its two-day central Victorian community camp in Maryborough.

Essendon will visit Maryborough, Castlemaine and Kyneton as part of the camp, which includes school and community visits, superclinics and fundraising dinners.

The camp kicks off with a civic reception at the Maryborough Community Hub at noon today.

Among the guest speakers at the civic reception will be Stewart Crameri, who played junior and senior football at Maryborough on his pathway to joining Essendon.

Coach James Hird and captain Jobe Watson will also speak.

Essendon’s community camp schedule:

Today:

12pm-1.15pm – civic reception at Maryborough Community Hub in Burns Street. Speakers include James Hird, Jobe Watson and Stewart Crameri.

2pm-3.30pm – school visits at Dunolly PS, Bealiba PS, St Augustin’s, Carisbrook PS, Talbot PS, Timor PS and Maryborough Education Centre. Community visits to Maryborough Hospital and Crameri Grainstore.

4.30pm-6pm – superclinic at Princes Park.

6.30pm-9pm – Cancer Council Victoria fundraiser at Maryborough Highland Society. Speakers: James Hird, Jobe Watson, Stewart Crameri. Bookings: 5461 1480.

7.30pm-10pm – Midland Junior Football League fundraiser at Camp Reserve, Castlemaine. Speakers: Mark Thompson, player panels. Bookings: 5443 7111.

Tomorrow:

7.30am-9am – breakfast at Camp Reserve with AFL Schools ambassadors and Castlemaine Football Club prize winners.

8am-8.30am – kick-to-kick at competition winner’s house with two players.

9.30am-11am – school visits at Castlemaine North PS, Olivet College, St Mary’s PS, Harcourt Valley PS, Campbells Creek PS, Newstead PS, and Castlemaine SC junior and senior campus. Community visits to Castlemaine Town Hall, Castlemaine Botanical Gardens and Castlemaine Hospital.

1.30pm-3.15pm – superclinic at Kyneton Showgrounds with Kyneton PS and St Mary’s PS.
