Bendigo had 24 more scoring shots than the Roosters as it won 19.22 (136) to 12.5 (77).
The margin could have been more had Bendigo not kicked an inaccurate 4.11 in the last quarter while holding the Roosters scoreless.
Among the standout players for Bendigo were ruckman Tom Bellchambers and midfielder Nathan Lovett-Murray.
Brad Collins played well in defence and co-captain Ben Duscher was his usual solid self through the midfield.
Steven Stroobants kicked four goals in an impressive performance.
The Bendigo side included defender Harrison Huntley and ruckman Jeremy Lambden, who both played with the Bendigo Pioneers last season and acquitted themselves well.
Bendigo was without three of its big guns in Rick Ladson, Matt Little and Jordan Williams, who were all rested.
