Cycling series to be staged in Bendigo

ROUND three in this summer’s Women’s Grand Prix cycling action will be raced in Bendigo.A four-leg series starts on December 17 at MacPherson Park in Melton before heading to Casey Fields in Cranbourne on January 28.The GP action then heads to Mayfair Park in East Bendigo on February 12.Bendigo’s Kate Finegan, Nicole McNamara and Cait Fraser will join forces in Team RACE for the grand prix.The trio competed in this year’s Honda Hybrid women’s series which was run in conjuction with the Jayco Herald Sun Tour.There will be more than $5000 in cash and prizes to be won as teams vie for glory on the roads.Events group Cykel is managing the series which winds up on March 3 at Campbellfield.“Racing in each round wll include a short individual time trial, followed by races for two divisions, as well as an under-17 girls event,” said Rob Carson from Cykel.
