IT’S a case of two down, one to go for Strathdale-Maristians in the Bendigo District Cricket Association.
The Suns have captured the first two BDCA trophies on offer this season.
After winning the Twenty20 Shield for the third-consecutive time earlier this month, the Suns have now wrapped up the Keck-Findlay one-day trophy.
The Suns were the only team to go through their five one-day games undefeated, beating Bendigo, Kangaroo Flat, Huntly-North Bendigo, Golden Square and Bendigo United in their 45-over-a-side matches.
“We love the shorter version of the game, and our team is probably well suited to it with the number of all-rounders we have,” Suns captain Linton Jacobs said yesterday.
“We’re very happy with how we’re playing, particularly after Christmas.”
With the shorter forms of the game now finished, the Suns’ attention is now firmly on trying to secure a top-two finish to give themselves the best chance of winning back-to-back premierships.
“Our main aim for the game is obviously to try to go back-to-back... that’s the one we want to win,” Jacobs said.
“We haven’t had much silverware over the past 10 years, but the shorter version of the game has given us that start and helped us to build a winning culture around the club.”
White Hills finished second to the Suns on the one-day ladder.
