Cricket pride on the line

09 Feb, 2010 10:23 AM
THERE will be plenty of pride at stake when the Bendigo District Cricket Association takes on the Emu Valley in tonight’s Twenty20 cricket clash at the QEO.

State Emergency Service crews will be the big winner as the night becomes a fund-raiser and also a chance for the community to thank the hard-working volunteeers.

On the field, the Adam Burns-led Bendigo team will use the match as a hit-out in the lead-up to the Melbourne Country Cricket Week carnival.

Emu Valley’s line-up is made up of its Bendigo Country Week team that finished third in division two at last month’s Bendigo Bank Country Cricket Week.

Marong’s Scott Ross will captain the Emus tonight.

A year ago, the BDCA fought back from a disastrous start with the bat to win the inaugural challenge which was a fund-raiser for the Bushfire Appeal.

A big night of cricket action will include a curtain-raiser between the colts’ teams from 5pm.

The main game hits off at 7pm, with food and drink available at the ground.
