Cricket association appeals for coaches

THE Bendigo District Cricket Association is seeking expressions of interest for its representative coaches for the upcoming season.

Coaching positions available are:

Melbourne Country Week coach, which will include all senior representative games;

Under-21 coach (two games);

Under-17 coach (four games);

Under-16 coach (four games);

Under-15 coach (four games);

Under-14 coach (four games);

Under-13 coach (four games); and

Under-12 coach (four games).

The four games for the grades from under-17 to under-12 are: v Shepparton away on October 31, v Gisborne at home on December 5, v Ballarat at home on January 30 and v Geelong away on February 20.

The board will also accept applications for the manager’s positions for each grade..

All applications in writing to the BDCA Secretary, PO Box 535, Bendigo, 3552.

Change of dates for Melbourne Country Cricket Week have also forced a rescheduling of some of the BDCA’s representative matches.

Bendigo will play at Shepparton on October 31.

Lightfoot Shield matches are set down for November 7.

The Bendigo DCA will play on home turf against Gisborne on December 5.

The Turner-Hollioake Shield will be up for grabs when Ballarat hosts Bendigo in the annual challenge on January 30.

Melbourne Country Cricket Week runs from February 7 to 11.

Representative games for the BDCA will be played on February 20 at Geelong.

A highlight of the summer will be the annual Bendigo Bank-backed Bendigo Country Cricket Week.

Teams from many parts of Victoria will head to Bendigo to play from January 16 to 21.

The Bendigo District Cricket Association’s senior season hits off October 9 and winds up with grand finals on March 19-20.

Round one of the popular Twenty20 series is on November 23.
