EAGLEHAWK junior cricketer Jordan Ilsley was in sparkling form on the weekend, scoring a century for his under-15 team.
In the match between Eaglehawk and Bendigo United, Ilsley notched up an unbeaten 104 to help Eaglehawk win the match by 67 runs.
It was the first time Ilsley has made a century.
He said he had not even come close before this season.
“No I haven’t come close ever,” he said.
“Everything just went right on the day.”
The Eaglehawk Secondary College student hopes he can score a century again, but he isn’t sure how soon he’ll be able to do it.
“I’m not too sure, it was a bit of luck,” he said.
Eaglehawk under-15 coach Bernie Fitt said that although Ilsley didn’t get off to a good start in his innings, he pulled it together to make the ton.
“He played well despite the fact he got off to a scratchy start,” Fitt said.
“He played a lot of good balls straight down the line when he got it together.”
Although it was Ilsley’s first century, Fitt said he had a good chance of scoring another in the future if he puts his head down and worked hard.
“He has a good technique and plays it straight,” he said.
“He’s had a few good starts, but now he’s finally gone on with it.”
Ilsley also played in Northern Rivers Junior Country Cricket Week under-16B team in January and represented the Bendigo District Cricket Association in the under-15 squad in 2009.
