A MILESTONE match for guard Kevin Probert will be added incentive for the Symes Motors Bendigo Braves to take out the 2010 Eastern Conference SEABL Championship this Saturday night at Bendigo Stadium.
Probert, who developed his game with the Braves’ junior squads, will celebrate his 100th game in this Saturday’s grand final clash against the Knox Raiders in front of a packed home stadium.
Probert has been a consistent player in the SEABL ranks, averaging 8.3 points and 1.8 and was awarded the ‘Golden Hands’ honour for the 2009 SEABL season.
The point guard, who returned to the court in the preliminary final win against Kilsyth following a calf injury, said his milestone match would be one of many incentives for a Braves’ grand final win.
“It’s exciting that it’s my 100th match, but this Saturday is all about the grand final,” he said.
“It’s just another game really, but I’m pretty fortunate that this game has fallen on such a big day for the club.
“I think the other players will want to play well for my game, but more importantly for Ricky Daniels who has not won a championship in what’s been a great career.
“We also want to do it for the two imports, who both haven’t won a championship either.”
Probert is confident that his team has what it takes to claim the silverware this weekend and said this season’s Braves team was the strongest he’s played in.
“We have a stronger team than last year and we all play our individual roles.
“We’re really confident about the match, without being cocky.
“We’ve already done all of the hard work and now it’s time to get it done.”
