The Champions IGA Bendigo Lady Braves have selected Sarah Strange and Jane Chalmers as captains for the 2012 basketball season.
Strange and Chalmers take over from Lauren King, who is not returning to the Lady Braves this year.
Strange, 23, celebrated her 100th game with the club last year and is extremely excited to take on the role of co-captaining the new-look Lady Braves.
“I’m looking forward to being part of the leadership team in 2012. It will be exciting to see how our team develops throughout the year.”
Chalmers, 28, backs up for another SEABL season after playing every game last year and then getting injured in the finals regular season game in Brisbane and missing both finals matches.
“Bring on 2012. Come March 17, hopefully we’re ready to take on the challenge one game at a time.” Chalmers said.
Head coach Lukas Carey expressed his delight in the appointment of Strange and Chalmers.
“I am so happy for Sarah and Jane to be announced as our captains for this season.
“They have been terrific players and people for our club over a number of years and we will be looking for these two girls to continue that and demonstrate the values and commitment it takes to be a part of our club to our new team members.”
The Champions IGA Bendigo Lady Braves kick off their 2012 SEABL season on Saturday, March 17, at Frankston.
