The lack of a pre-season didn’t help, but Harrower said extra fitness work in the past three weeks had the Spirit ready to prove they were a genuine play-off threat.

Smith, a former Bendigo Lady Braves star, is the leading scorer in the Women’s National Basketball League, averaging 25 points per game.
