BENDIGO residents have been invited to a special display recognising and commemorating the fight against breast cancer.
Each October, breast cancer awareness month, Curves gym members are asked to decorate a bra.
More than 2000 entries from across the state are pooled, and three winners are selected.
The winning bras, plus dozens more with special designs and messages, are on display at Curves Bendigo.
Curves owner Peter Mullins said the venture was a light-hearted approach to a serious issue.
“It’s there to recognise and raise the awareness of breast cancer, and in some way commemorate the lives of those who have lost the fight.”
The bra display was a special feature at last week’s Relay For Life.
Mr Mullins said he and his wife Maureen were inviting everyone to visit Curves and see the display.
During March, Curves waives its joining fee but asks new members to donate a bag of groceries.
Bendigo and Kangaroo Flat members have given 890kg of groceries to the Salvation Army.
Castlemaine Curves donated 850kg of groceries and $1200 in food vouchers to the Salvos.
