School diggers see red

28 Aug, 2009 09:50 AM
YESTERDAY Rosalind Park buzzed with excitement as Camp Hill Primary School Students re-enacted the historical Red Ribbon Rebellion.

In similar style to the diggers in 1853, the youngsters took to wearing a red ribbon, the diggers’ symbol of unity in defiance of the law.

Family and Friends watched on as enthusiastic students marched through the park, led by Dr Jones (Jim Evans), Captain Brown (Ciaran Hogan), Captain Harrison (Norm Harris) and Alan Boddy (George Thomson).

A regular in the Red Ribbon Rebellion re-enactment, Phyllis Harris, expressed her thoughts on the morning’s events.

“It’s just really fun. I love it.”

Phyllis has taken part for the past four years, along with her husband, Norm.
