MORE than 100 computers, 500 sausages, 150 kids, 20 guest speakers and tech support - welcome to Kids’ Congress.

The two-day communications conference for students from schools across the Loddon region kicked off yesterday and organisers were pleased to see the first workshops go off without a hitch.

Held at Victory Christian Centre, the communications workshop was organised by a team of about 26 students from Specimen Hill Primary School.

“I’ve been looking forward to it for months,’’ management committee member Brooke Wilson said.

“We’ve put so much work into it.’’

Watched over by their teachers, the students organised everything from sponsorship and catering to the guest speakers.

Students will participate in a range of workshops from animation and claymation to blogs, learning about the different ways to communicate ideas through technology.

One group of students will also make a short documentary about Kids’ Congress.
