The original name back in place

CONTRACTORS have completed an overhaul of the Bendigo Advertiser’s Queen Street premises that included the installation of new signs, in line with changes to the 157-year-old paper’s masthead.

Readers of the “Addy” overwhelmingly endorsed the move by the paper earlier this year to revert back to the Bendigo Advertiser, and the erection of the new signs drew almost instant calls of approval and support from curious onlookers and passers-by yesterday afternoon.

General manager Margot Falconer said it was all part of the paper’s commitment to reflect community expectations and to engage with its readers.

“The paper’s masthead was altered earlier this year to reinstate the Bendigo into the Advertiser masthead, and but for the sustained run of wet weather, the signage would have been completed much earlier.’’
