CREATURES of the ocean have come to Bendigo, with the transformation of the conservatory in Rosalind Park into a giant imaginary aquarium. The latest display, titled A Fish Out of Water, is part of the City of Greater Bendigo’s ongoing Art in the Conservatory Temporary Public Art Program.Women and girls from St Luke’s Smart Arts program, along with participants at public workshops, have made hundreds of fish from recycled soft-drink bottles. The fish have been hung from the roof of the conservatory, creating a shimmering “undersea” environment.Smart Arts facilitator Robbie Buckman said the participants took a great deal of pride in their work.“They are excited by the exhibition and appreciate the opportunity for such a high-profile public outcome,” she said. The exhibition follows the recent visit from Rudolf and his flying boat at Christmas. The display A Fish Out of Water is open daily until April.
